When we decided to create a shirt inspired by the love and irony of Valentines Day, we wanted a unique campaign to go with it. We could think of no one better to capture our vision than Cuban photographer Leandro Feal. Leandro's work has always screamed, to us, that this is a photo of love that burns hot and bright, and maybe burns out too quick, but is always worth the experience. The type of love that melts a popsicle.
In speaking with him, and in looking at his photographs, you can tell that all sides of photography interest Leandro. He admits it himself; his camera moves incessantly through streets, buildings, bars, rooms for rent, forcing the public and private to coexist on the same stage. But in spite of how heterogeneous and extensive his work has been, you can always find a particular and almost obsessive taste for passionate interior shots, furtive portraits, intimacy and solitude.
In his photography, there's a conscious link between the model and the photographer. A relationship between lens and subject that make the spectator a witness and an accomplice of the scene. All things that, together with the few personal exhibitions, have made him stand out as among the most outstanding photographers of this new Cuban generation.
His work documents, with an almost daring transparency, the faces, the dark corners, and anachronistic scenes of Havana. Of a bohemian and celestial Havana. Havana of complacency and adventure.
That's why together we decided to launch a collection of photos to celebrate love in all its forms. The end result was a super fun photo shoot with really beautiful snapshots. We are very happy with this collaboration and without a doubt, we'll be working together again in the future.
