We have launched our 2020 collection!
Last Friday, we launched our 2020 collection Glorias Deportivas (Sports Glories) with a Fashion Show at the Ramón Fonst stadium in Havana, one of the most important sports facilities in the country's capital.
The collection is inspired by the glories of Cuban sports as metaphors of the resistance and sacrifice of the Cuban people and their ability to overcome.
References to the Soviet heritage in Cuba and the extreme polarization of the contemporary world are also found in the designs of the new collection.
From the aesthetic vision of Clandestina’s universe, the collection develops elements of the clothing of the great Cuban medalists of judo, boxing, fencing, volleyball, gymnastics, baseball and other disciplines that placed Cuba as one of the world leaders in athletics.
During the runway we also launched a collaboration with the Italian sports shoe brand Superga. We presented more than 40 exclusive models intervened by our designers that will be put up for sale in the Havana store after the runway.
The models of the catwalk also wore 5 pieces of footwear designed and produced by our partners of Querencia Studio; a company based in New York with which Clandestina has an association since June this year. The event that led to this association was a pop-up shop of the Cuban brand at the headquarters of The Canvas by Querencia Studio in New York that took place from June 4 to 23, 2019, with the support of Google. The New York brand shares with Clandestina the vision of a more ethical and sustainable fashion industry. The items they bring to Cuba for the Glorias Deportivas event are produced in 3D with reused materials in collaboration with Zellerfeld.
Javier Sotomayor, Ana Fidela Quirós and Regla Torres, three of the most important and influential Cuban athletes of all time, will model pieces of the collection during the runway and represent the more than 100 Cuban sports glories confirmed for the event.
The pieces of the new 2020 collection "Glorias Deportivas" are available for purchase at our store in Old Havana and will be available at the beginning of December here in our online store (clandestina.co) and at The Canvas, Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.
