OUR PHILOSOPHY
In Cuba, we resolver. That means that in Cuba, we make something from nothing and that we make the best of what we have. The idea is simple: we have to get ahead, no matter what it takes. And this is our inspiration. A way to deal with life, and to enjoy it. To adapt to it. The good and the bad. Like we say in Cuba, “lo que sucede conviene” – whatever happens is convenient.
In Cuba, the greatest challenge for every business owner is to maintain the supply chain: there are no wholesale stores, importing takes forever and prices are hardly competitive on the black market. And here is where we apply our philosophy of resolver. How?
We created our Vintrashe collection (vintage + trash). We looked in the local market and take what we can from second hand stores–discarded nylon, thread, paper, plastic and cardboard of the Cuban companies. And what do we make? Whatever our creative team decides. Shirts, notebooks, magnets, toys, bags. A whole world of products 99% made on Cuba. And the best part is that every single one is unique.
And this is how our Vintrashe collection reflects the principles of Cuban resolver and our Cuban social heritage, based on the ideas of recycling, the circular economy and the global movement to make the fashion industry more ethical.

En Cuba se “resuelve”. Esto significa que en Cuba se hace mucho con muy poco y que a cualquier situación, objeto o emoción un cubano le va a saber sacar provecho. La idea es simple. Hay que salir adelante. Y ésta es nuestra inspiración. Una manera de enfrentar la vida y de disfrutarla. De adaptarnos. A lo bueno y a lo malo. Y es que como decimos en Cuba, lo que sucede conviene.
En Cuba el mayor desafío para cualquier emprendedor es sostener la cadena de producción: no hay mercado mayorista, las importaciones se dilatan infinitamente y el mercado negro hace que los precios sean poco competitivos. Y aquí es cuando aplicamos nuestra filosofía del resolver. ¿Cómo?. Creando la colección Vintrashe (Vintage + Trash). ¿Qué hacemos?. Buscar en el mercado local. ¿Y qué conseguimos?. Recuperar el textil de las prendas de segunda mano y los descartes de nylon, yute, papel, plástico y cartón de las empresas cubanas. ¿Y qué producimos?. Lo que el equipo creativo liderado por Idania del Río decida. Camisetas, libretas de papel, imanes, juguetes, bolsos, todo un mundo de productos 99% hechos en Cuba. Y lo mejor es que cada producto es único.
Y así es como nuestra colección Vintrashe by Clandestina además de reflejar los principios del resolver cubano y la herencia social cubana, se monta en el tema del reciclaje, la economía circular y el movimiento global para convertir el mundo de la moda en una industria mucho más ética.
